How to create HD content for online branding & marketing

This BLOG helps you find a starting point for your online story.
(You found this blog; your customers will find your blog)

Do you need to create high definition content to tell your story online?

The following questions can help a business owner, entrepreneur, artist, musician, rock-band, filmmaker, people that provide services, and anyone that is starting to use the internet as a tool to find an audience.  You will need to stop, think, and take notes...
---------------
Are you an AUTHORITY in your field?  Why?  Who is?

What is your area of expertise? What do you do BEST?

What kind of content can you create to support your area of expertise?
Example:  VLOG, social media posts, podcasts, Blogs, online PR

Write a short bio about "YOURSELF" as if you are pitching "YOU" to someone.  How can the audience get to know you very quickly?  How are you unique?

What kind of social media posts make sense for you to post?  Who does a similar thing as you?  What is their online strategy?

What kind of content do you know how to create?

What useful advice about your industry, coupled with your opinions, can you offer to your audience?  If you had to write a blog right now about what you do, what would the title be?  (Thank you, that's your next blog)

What is your current ONLINE IDENTITY?
Google yourself.  What happens?  Do you like what you see?

Do you own your domain name?  www.YOURname.com - That is the ONLY online property that you have 100% control over what information gets published.  Any other social media site can change the rules at any time, and you are held hostage to their terms and conditions.

Basic online properties to start with:
Facebook LIKE page
Twitter
Pinterest
Google+
YouTube
Blogger
Instagram
SnapChat

Go through EVERY screen on the privacy settings and check or un-check the items that you agree with.  Ensure consistency in the messaging on all of your online platforms.

Who are your community supporters?  Does anyone love what you do?

Do you have the right STYLE for the internet?

How do your favorite websites look? Think about the entire DESIGN...

Do you LOOK professional?
1. Profile pics
2. Clothing
3. Content that you post
4. Social media properties
5. Professional messaging
6. Email address

Example:  Film producer should NOT look like a beach bum on daily posts.
(*This is OK for entrepreneurs!)  :-)

How do you MEASURE your efforts?

Who is clicking on the content that you post?

Are they buying?

What do they like more?

Do you have a capture page to gather emails?

Set up Google Analytics to track a lot of this information.
Set GOALS each week.

What do you want to accomplish?

Student Veterans Association - Puerto Rico - History is made!

It was a great day in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico for the military veteran community.  For the first time ever we witnessed an Installation Ceremony for a student veteran association on the island.  There were many community partners in attendance, friends, and veterans alike, came to support the PUPR Chapter in leading the charge for veteran students.

This association will provide a place for veterans to communicate about classes, and build a team of people as a support network.  This will help them ensure success during their time as a student.  Groups like this are important because they represent veterans in the civilian community in a positive light.  They do this by giving veterans a chance to communicate with civilians and build long-lasting relationships.  We encourage all schools in Puerto Rico to follow the lead and organize a student veterans association on their campuses too.

As the Chapter Captain of Team Red, White and Blue, Puerto Rico Chapter, I am proud to be a part of this historic moment.  More importantly, as a veteran, I am proud to be able to pass along my knowledge and experience to help my fellow veterans make this idea a reality.  When I was attending The Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood, CA I was the chapter President for the Student Veterans of America (SVA) and that former experience has proven to be very useful in our current endeavours.  All veterans and the civilians that support us, must take care of our own community.  If you have a skill or talent that can help someone in our community please feel free to offer your services.  Let’s BUILD!

Very Respectfully,

The greatest salesman in Puerto Rico

Can I really sell ice to an Eskimo?
By: George Ohan

In 4 Lines:
“I AM the world’s greatest salesman!”, I said to myself on this morning of August 11, 2015.   I had a huge smile on my face as I walked away from Tio Luis on the side of the road in Santa Juanita, Bayamón…. 4 bags lighter, because I just hustled about 200 Mangos to a street side fruit vendor in Puerto Rico.

What is this Blog about?
This is a short story about overcoming a challenge that I (George Ohan) was facing and accomplishing a personal goal at the same time.

*A good read for any open-minded entrepreneur seeking professional growth & development in the area of SELLING.  Educate and Accelerate, LET’S BUILD!

You can sell ice to an Eskimo.  Who in the heck came up with that saying?!? Well, I’ve heard it several times throughout my life and I’ve always wondered if I really could sell ice to an Eskimo.  I mean, why would the Eskimo person need more ice?  What pain would I be relieving with my special ice?  Do Eskimos use ice for anything besides being cold?  Is there special ice?  Who rides the dog sleds to bring the fish and meat back to the igloo; Do they need small blocks of ice for that?  Do you think Eskimos would buy shaved ice?  What kind of money do Eskimos have?....U.S. $ if you’re in Alaska, right?    Does it have to be ice to an Eskimo?  How much is a plane ticket to Alaska?  …..this is what happens in my head when I plan on selling something.  I try to dream up any possible question that could be asked, then I try to answer them…. ALL of them.

*You can breach an obstacle, or you can by-pass an obstacle.  It’s your choice.

Can it be Mangos to a Puerto Rican street side fruit vendor instead of ice to an Eskimo?  Recently, I moved to Puerto Rico and I noticed that there are huge mango trees all over the island.  These trees have hundreds of low-hanging fruit for anyone to pick and eat fresh from the tree.  I had a vision of trying to sell these to Puerto Rican fruit sellers and that would be my version of  “selling ice to an Eskimo.”  When I ran this idea across my Puerto Rican friends, and they all laughed at me…. Out loud…… for a few minutes…. But, whatever!

ACTUAL RESPONSE:
“How the fu*k is a GRINGO gonna sell mangos to a Puerto Rican?”
 (Laughing continued)

It was a great question, actually.  So, this became my  “selling ice to an Eskimo” mission.   I started by doing research using my eyes and observing the external environment.  Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats.  My initial surveillance showed that most fruit vendors did not sell mangos.  However, in Cosco the cost was about $1 each.  Why did the local fruit vendors not bother to carry mangos?  Too little demand?  Did Puerto Ricans refuse to pay for something that grows so readily on trees?  There was only one way to find out.  I had to come up with a compelling pitch to sell mangos to professional fruit sellers.

I started to notice the age of the fruit sellers.  The younger guys would have more avocado, bread fruit, and coconuts.  My conclusion was that they were gathering these items themselves, or they had other young crews that could easily gather fruit for them.  However, most of these guys still did not sell mangos.  I decided that my target would be the oldest looking fruit seller on my general route.  I chose this person, because I’d be helping him the most.  I gathered up 4 bags of the BEST mangos I could find and I took them to the fruit vendor.  I was going into the transaction as the mangos being my “Loss Leader”  product.  I invested 20 minutes picking the mangos and 20 minutes delivering them, plus travel and fuel costs.  Here I am with about 200 mangos filled in 4 black trash bags.  I show the fruit to the street side vendor as if it’s GOLD! …..He does NOT look impressed.  I use my almost non-existent Spanish-speaking ability to convince Tio Luis to give me $35 for the 4 bags.  He finally agrees after haggling down from $50.00.  I shook his hand and gave him his money back and let him keep the mangos.

I told him that I picked those for free and he told me the exact tree that I picked them from.  He knew by the size and color where I got those exact fruits from.  It was amazing to do business with a person that KNOWS his craft so well.  He also knew that he got a great deal!  I gave him his money back because I wasn’t doing this for a profit; I was doing this for the love of business.   The reason he doesn’t carry mangos is because they sell too fast and take up too much room for other fruits that he sells for more money throughout the day.  The basic rule of “shelf space” and who gets it?

Ice to an Eskimo, We will never know for sure?  Mangos to a Puerto Rican, YES!  I’m more of a warm weather person anyway.

When you want to sell anything you must make a plan and take action.  That’s it.  It’s the only way to find out if people will buy what you’re selling.  Do it.

INDEPENDENT (Indie) MODEL WANTS TO MAKE MONEY

…Like, I’m an Indie model and I want to get paid.  Now what?

INDEPENDENT MODEL WANTS TO MAKE MONEY – MUST READ*

1.  Do you have a modeling teacher, coach, or mentor?   This is not about being a pretty face and taking pictures.  This is a professional career and craft that might take over 10 years to develop.

                a.  Take the critiques of people that know what they're talking about very seriously and make the adjustments that they suggest.  Who cares how you FEEL, just do it.  You might actually learn a lot about yourself and your technique.

2.  Do people in your local area BUY your photos or merchandise?  Do they hire you for gigs, promos, or photography sessions?  Are you selling any content? Are people requesting your merchandise?  What have they asked for?  Where can you get items produced?  What is the cost?  Will you be shipping?

3.  What is your Brand?  What IS a Brand?  When your NAME comes up, what idea should pop into a person’s mind?  WHO are you? (Time for research) You must DEVELOP, PROMOTE, and MARKET yourself.  This means a LOT more than Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.  What are the best sites for working models?

4.  Do you know what the below terms actually mean when it comes to the MODELING industry: Marketing, eCommerce, Promotions, Digital Distribution, Publishing, Licensing, Intellectual Property and Copyright Protection?
(Do some research on successful indie models that you follow.  How do they do it?)
                 a.  Do you READ BOOKS that can educate you on your industry?  Do you read about those subjects daily?  Are you obsessed with learning about the MODELING BUSINESS?  You NEED to be.  *Brains & Beauty = Higher chance of SUCCESS

5.  Have you ever talked to an entertainment law attorney?  Look for one and email them.  Do you know if you “own” the photos that other photographers have taken of you?  Do you know any Modeling managers that are currently working in the industry?  If so, what degree of success have they achieved?- Meet the RIGHT people.

6.  Do you have phenomenal talent? …..Your talent has to be better than: MEH, better than GOOD, and better than GREAT too!!  Are your fans left in awe every time you post a blog or photograph?  If the CEO of ELLE magazine or MAXIM Magazine saw you right now, would that person be impressed by your full package? (Social Media, Body, Face, Community involvement, work history, future plans, etc..?)  Are you ready?
Is your work remarkable?  REMARK-ABLE.  Do you offer anything different than other models?

7.  Does your social media look like some of your favorite model’s sites?  Are your social media sites updated regularly, and with the correct information?  Is the content interesting and professional?  Do you have an online audience that engages with your posts?  Have they ever bought anything from you?
                 a.  Run your social media like a business runs their social sites.  You are here to make money; are your posts generating income?  If not; why not?  Do you have a marketing and branding campaign that you stick with?

8.  Are you highly motivated, dedicated, and willing to work harder than the next model?  How?  Do you have a plan?  What is your daily plan?  What do you consider “working” when you’re trying to build your company?
a.  Are you using your time effectively?  Ask yourself at the end of each day, "If I was the CEO of my modeling company, based on my performance today, would I hire myself again tomorrow?"

9.  Do you follow-up after meeting new people?  Have you emailed EVERY person that has given you a business card with a proposal to create content for them?  Are you networking with the proper people?  Are you networking correctly?  How are you offering to help them?  What are you asking for?

The above steps are over 10 years of experience in social media and working with indie models.  Shortcuts do not exist; you must do the work to achieve success.  This blog should serve as a guide to help a new model get on track with creating income for themselves.  FOLLOW the steps for a good start.

Entrepreneur business quick tips - Leadership & Knowledge

This blog is a quick summary of a very informative "Indie Entrepreneur JAM session" that we hosted on July 31, 2015.  If you're in any stage of business, it's always good to hear from other people that share your same struggle.  We are a group of people that aim to empower business people worldwide, especially small business.

My personal take-away from each person that joined us on our Google+ Hangout.  This is an inside look at what Entrepreneurs go through.  We build teams and we build dreams!  Please feel free to contact us anytime with business questions...

QUICK TIPS:
(1)  Chris Hill - Chef - Entrepreneur

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tGdukh8pqg

*In business and in life, you need BALANCE.  If you are the artsy and crafty type, most likely you will need a "business type" other half to compliment your situation.  We tend to be close to people that are similar to ourselves, but sometimes for business this isn't the best choice.  Yin Yang.

(2)  USMC veteran - Edi Santos
Www.caligreenturf.com  http://Www.inspiremas.com

*Invest in yourself by educating yourself. Read books, daily. You MUST have Organization and you MUST Manage your Expectations. How much work did you do, and what do you expect in return? Daily tasks, goals, objectives MUST be known to accomplish your ultimate vision.  Write it out.

(3)  John Duffy - Film Producer
IMDB - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0240485/

* "Question your beliefs" - This is hard to do at first, because your entire belief system is built with people that you trust.  This is very important for entrepreneurs to do because we need to stay aware of our always changing external environment.  You ALWAYS have a choice.  Think about EVERY option in every situation, so you will make better decisions.

(4)  Xavier Ybarra - Film Director
http://www.signaturexavier.com/

*Goal Setting - Draw 5 circles on a piece of Paper.  1.Main Goal  2.Yearly Goal  3.Monthly Goal  4.Weekly  5.Daily Goals - Write out your goals!  What do you want to have accomplished?  What is your deadline?  Is it realistic?  Take action.

(5)  U.S. Navy veteran- John Chang - Bush Pilot Marketing - Content Producer
https://www.facebook.com/bushpilotmarketing

*If you are an entrepreneur to "Make Money" it is NOT enough!  This journey is BEYOND THAT.  You must have a deep desire and passion to be in business.  Why do you do "what" you do?  Why should we care about your business?

(6)  U.S. Army veteran- George Ohan - International Entrepreneur

*There is NO cavalry coming to save you.  It's not YOU against the world, it's you against YOU.  No self pity.  If not you, then who?  ONLY you can do what you do.  Nobody loves your dream as much as you do.  Get to work.
