I'm happy that I was robbed in Puerto Rico.

Positive Attitude is not a gimmick; It’s my way of life.

I choose gratitude as my tool for maintaining a positive attitude. I enjoy living a happy life by showing gratitude to the people that I deal with. It is a CHOICE to live happy. You can choose to be happy too.

People get “positivity” confused with “fantasy” sometimes.

Positivity doesn’t mean that bad things don’t happen to me. Positivity doesn’t mean that the universe must favor me or any of my plans. Positivity doesn’t even guarantee success after you spend a lifetime doing the “right thing” along your journey. Positivity DOES give you the tool to handle any negative situation, by always looking for the good no matter what you are faced with.

The  night before Thanksgiving 2015 in San Juan, Puerto Rico somebody smashed the window of our car at the Afrika Club. We were there to film a live performance of recording artist Eddie Lamenaza, but when we got back to our car from checking in with the club manager, the film and audio equipment was gone. Any "indie" filmmaker knows how bad this sucks.

A few of the items were:
Canon DSLR Camera
2 Lenses
H5 Zoom Audio
Lavalier Microphone
SD Cards
Batteries

Why did this happen to me? Am I a bad person? Is this Karma from something that I did when I was 16 years old? Where is this negativity coming from?

……..NONE of those questions matter.

I started to think about: I volunteer with veterans, I mentor kids, I help non-profit organizations, I treat people well, I even take my dog to the beach…… So, why me?

……..NONE of those things matter either.

(Brendan Masters, San Diego, CA - Plays Buckets. No Excuses.)

I DO what I do because it makes ME happy. The universe doesn’t trade my good deeds for a lower amount of negativity that can come my way. I can’t control WHAT happens to me in my life. We only have control of about 10% of anything that happens in our lives. I only have control over my reaction when something good or bad happens to me.

Fact: My film & audio equipment is gone.
Fact: It’s time for my reaction…….

I kept it cool. I thought to myself, “Good. I hope he bought his family a nice Thanksgiving Day dinner with the money he got for that stuff.”

“Maybe this is a sign that I needed to put the camera down, and focus on bigger things?”

“Now I have an opportunity to learn PhotoShop more. Or maybe I can buy a better camera? Oh damn, we should call the cops.”

That was my REAL reaction. I didn’t react this way because it would look better for a blog. I didn’t react this way because I thought that it would help to magically bring my stuff back. I reacted this way because I KNEW my stuff was gone. I could not control that situation from happening to me. I also knew that anger, hate, and over-thinking only leads to the BAD me.  Positivity and forward-thinking take a massive amount of work to achieve.

I do everything that I can to protect my mind and spirit from any negative thoughts entering or being created within myself.

Why would I poison myself with hate because somebody chose to do something bad to me? It doesn’t make sense to make myself FEEL bad for something that I didn’t have any control over.

Staying positive helps me keep a clear mind so I can make better decisions in tough times.

(Combat Veteran, USMC (Ret.) CPL Juan Dominguez; A HAPPY guy)

I didn’t post this on Facebook when it first happened because it was one day before a holiday break. I didn’t want people to see negativity on their timelines, and I’m happy that I did that.  It gave me time to focus on being happy with the people around me, instead of waiting to read the comments on a post about something bad that happened to me. By choosing to not post about this situation, I have been able to keep my mind clear of negativity.

Negativity destroys creativity, and I can’t afford that.

Thank you to my friend Luiz Burgos (U.S. Navy Veteran) for inviting us to enjoy Thanksgiving Day with his family in Caguas, PR. I'm happy that I didn't make an excuse of having a broken window to not go from Bayamon to Caguas to enjoy time with our Puerto Rican family. Saying YES is part of the happiness equation.

Let's Party!

You deserve to be happy.... Like me!

I wanted to change, but how do I achieve a change in my life that will last a long time?

I had to figure out what were my beliefs and my values. I realized that with my belief & value system, I could not try to achieve what I wanted in life, and still make everyone around me happy. This is when I changed my focus to what makes ME happy.

We can’t “try” to change something about ourselves, because it's in our BELIEF system. We must be COMMITTED to changing a behavior in our life that we no longer need. We must try to understand “why” we want to change. Is the reason to change important enough to you? Will challenging your beliefs be beneficial to your life?

Maybe the thing that you want to change in your life was actually helpful to you at some point, to deal with certain situations? However, as we grow with our experiences, our life requires a new tool for our new level of life that we desire.

This doesn’t mean that our old habits were “bad” or not useful. This just means that you no longer have a need for a certain behavior or habit after you’re ready to grow as a person.

It’s OK to challenge your beliefs. It’s OK to create a new belief system that works for you. I like to model many of my beliefs after the patterns of people that have accomplished what I seek to accomplish. If Napoleon Hill, Anthony Robbins, and Mahatma Gandhi said it, I will consider their perspectives because I value their teachings.

Who do you spend time with? This is who you will become. You need a mentor or group of people that share the same behaviors that you’d like to develop.

We need to RAISE our standards. It’s easy to look good in front of people that are doing less than you. Find people that allow you to grow into a better you. Don’t be held down by the mentality of lesser thinking people that try to waste your valuable time with tasks that don’t help you meet your goals.

When was the last time you were excited about something? What motivates you? What makes you happy? *Really think about it.

There is NO “right” or “wrong” when you want to change.

You need to FOCUS on your desired results. Think about the good things that will happen when you change. That is what you’ll achieve. What do you want? How bad do you want it? What are you willing to sacrifice to get what you want?

CHANGE requires MASSIVE ACTION toward what you want.

No massive action in life = No change in life.

Everyone has a different talent that they’re blessed with. If you want to get “better” at anything that is not a natural talent of yours, a new skill can be developed. YES, it can. Are you willing to FOCUS and LEARN something new? If you are willing to commit, you will learn.

YOU deserve to WIN! YOU deserve SUCCESS!

PROGRESS = HAPPINESS
*Start making progress. You KNOW what needs to be done. Do it!

Fun path to success & happiness for all people

This is "Crossfit for the brain." - You must commit 30 minutes daily.

You want to be happy?
You want to be successful?
But, how? .....Read Below

There is a system for your mind to build what it takes to be successful.
Would you be willing to invest 30 minutes of your day to build a more happy you?

This did not come into being by accident or a fluke.
TrueFortune Cookies concept was conceived, created, designed and brought to life by a man who not only is a visionary but a rocket scientist, mechanical engineer, designer, psychologist, marriage and family therapist, hypnotherapist, counselor, marketing executive - and entrepreneur.

TrueFortune Cookies was only one of many creations and inventions (holder of 10 patents) that its creator is responsible for, some of these accomplishments include:

Lunar Excursion Module - Supervised the mechanical design for the rocket engine for this space vehicle which landed the first astronauts on the moon.  This engine had a 10/1 variable thrust and is the only engine ever produced in the U.S. with a variable thrust.

Satellites - Designed a hermetically-sealed explosive release mechanism for satellites.

London’s Millennium Bridge - Designed the hermetically-sealed damper with infinite life that was later used to control pedestrian-induced vibrations on the bridge.  Previous to the installation of the dampers the bridge swayed so much that it couldn’t be used.

Ships - Invented a system for supporting the inertial systems of ships to protect them from depth charge-induced shock, yet allow them to retain very precise alignment.

Chatty Cathy Doll - Designed the talking mechanism for this doll which was the very first talking mechanism ever for dolls that could utter multiple sentences.

MEET DAVID LEE
The Early Years
Lee was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.  He migrated to California to attend California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech) in Pasadena where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.  During that time, he was married and subsequently had three children.  Years later, he would continue his education at the University of Southern California (USC) from which he obtained a Ph.D in mechanical engineering, and much later a Masters degree in Counselor Education.  While at USC, he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship Society.

Work HistoryDuring the course of his professional career, which has spanned six decades, Lee amassed a diversified background of work experience, ranging from research and science to manufacturing and psychological counseling to self-help education and marketing.  It has been a career distinguished not only by its diversity but by a record of innovation and creative achievements.

A brief review of his work experience:
· Garrett AiResearch (Designer) - His first work position, Lee designed the test equipment that ensured that motors, turbines and other
   engine parts worked properly.
· Firestone Tire and Rubber (Designer) - Working in its Guided Missile Division, Lee designed rocket engines, valves and other parts for the Corporal II missile, the nation’s first ballistic missile.
· Weber Aircraft (Designer) - Lee designed ejection seats for the B52 airplane.
· Mattel (Designer) - Lee designed the talking mechanism for the Chatty Cathy doll.

Ramo Woolridge (Section Head) - Working in its Space Technology Laboratories Division, Lee was in charge of all design for the mechanical portions of the LEM engine which was the one that landed astronauts on the moon.  He was also responsible for the design of valves, release mechanisms, unique vacuum chambers that simulate space as well as rocket engines.  For one project, he flew for three weeks in the Zero Gravity aircraft at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (see photos).

Mechanics Research, Inc. (Vice President R&D/Marketing) - Lee joined the company as its seventh employee and eventually become a part owner.

Taylor Devices (West Coast Technical Director) - During his employment with this company, which manufacturers dampers and shock absorbers, Lee invented and patented several products.  He also functioned in marketing and sales and was   awarded salesman of the year for the United States.

Marriage and Family Therapist/Private Practice - After receiving his degree from USC, Lee opened a practice in Beverly Hills and counseled individuals and couples.

Hypnotherapist/Private Practice - Lee obtained a licensed from the state of California and began using hypnotherapy in his practice.  This led to him creating and producing a series of “Guided Relaxation” audio tapes which he marketed on subjects such as losing weight, relieving stress and stopping smoking, etc.

Government Consultant - Lee occasionally consulted for various government entities.  One such assignment resulted in the  Los Angeles City Council starting a seismic vulnerability evaluation program for all structures in the city.

The Present
TrueFortune Cookies is now Lee’s passion and focus.  Noting that his wife’s opinion on his new endeavor was something to the effect of why was he doing it and couldn’t he find something useful to do, he offered this assessment:
“As long as I can remember my entire adult life has been productive.  I have designed innumerable rather complicated machines and patented many of them.  I have been responsible and relatively inoffensive (with a few lapses).  The TrueFortune Cookie is my very first venture with no purpose, no redeeming value and no prospect of remuneration.  I’m old enough to have given up saving for my old age, old enough to have more sense but not old enough to stop caring - so let’s have some fun!
The Future
To be determined…but if Lee’s past history is any barometer, it won’t be dull and it will be meaningful!
