USMC Ball 2015 Puerto Rico was done in STYLE! 

First Sergeant Julio Vargas from Detachment One, Landing Support Company, Combat Logistics Regiment -45 and his team are a total CLASS ACT. 

I am proud to say that Team RWB played a small role in making this evening a success. IT'S OUR TURN!

Thank you to Mr. Xander Veguilla (Filmmaker student at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón) for helping to film and edit an emotional video that was screened for the Marines on this evening.

We appreciate the help of the families and civilians that support military veterans here in Puerto Rico.

History of the Landing Support Company and The Red Patch.

The Red Patch carries great significance within the Marine Corps history. During the World War ll Island-Hopping campaign, it was difficult to distinguish the combat troops who were landing on the beach and moving inland on the attack. This generated much confusion during the initial hours of an amphibious assault. Following the bloody Battle of Tarawa in 1943, it was decided that the support Marines working on the beach would have red patches sewn on their uniforms. This enabled them to stand out from the combat troops, return order to the landing beach, and maintain a fluid throughput of logistical support to the combat units fighting inland. 

                                                         

The current day Marines of the Landing Support Company have 

maintained the distinction of being the only Marines allowed to wear the distinctive markings of the red patch. This distinction has become a part of the rich history, tradition, and pride of the beloved “Red Patchers”.  

Traveling the Earth screening my films! GI Film Festival

The GI Film Festival was a great time this year!  I am proud to say that I knew a lot of the people on and off the big screen.  (VFT members - Veterans in Film & Television) The military veteran community and its supporters are a class act!  I can’t remember the last time when I met so many fascinating people in such a short amount of time. 

Many times as we are producing our films there is no telling what will come of the project, but the GI Film Festival gives veterans like myself a quality platform to screen our work and tell the stories that our community cares about.  I saw so many fantastic films in one week, but If I had to name two films that you MUST see….. KAJAKI & BATTLE SCARS.  You wont be disappointed.

I’d like to personally thank the Co-founders of the GI Film Festival, Mr. Brandon Millet & Mrs. Laura Law-Millet.  They are a great example of leadership in the veteran community.   The entire staff was a pleasure to work with especially Carizza Gutierrez and Miss Linda!  I am a huge supporter of veterans, their families, and civilians building partnerships in our communities.  The GI Film Festival helps to bridge a gap between civilians and veterans by using art and digital media as the common ground of understanding.
