The "Unified Young Armenians" is a dynamic organization made up of a dedicated cadre of young Armenians. We aim to give the young Armenians a stronger voice and present them as an efficient and capable force for change. History has proven that all changes have been constituted because of the young people and we are here to do exactly that.

It is no secret that our greatest national resource is our people. We go one step further to boldly state that it is the collective power of the newer generation that will ensure a strong Armenia and a robust Diaspora. After more than a decade of meeting, planning, and executing, Unified Young Armenians has become a well oiled and efficient entity geared specifically towards harnessing the international power of young Armenians. Unified Young Armenians (UYA) has set the bar in excellence in every sphere of its activities.

Providing Free Cultural Education

We understand that not everyone can afford providing Armenian language, history, and culture lessons for their children because of various reasons. Therefore, we have aimed to providing this opportunity to the public at large free of charge. Every Saturday over 60 students attend the Armenian school which is provided by Unified Young Armenians.

Genocide Recognition and Prevention

We firmly believe that Genocide is the most horrendous crime in the human history. While killing a person is greatly condemned, at various times, Genocides which are committed by world governments and regimes go unpunished and unrecognized.
The Armenian Genocide which took place from 1915-1923 is the prime example of such Genocide gone unpunished and unrecognized.

Just a week before invading Poland, in a speech to his Wehrmacht commanders at his Obersalzberg home on August 22, 1939, a week before the German invasion of Poland, Adolf Hitler said: "Our strength consists in our speed and in our brutality. Genghis Khan led millions of women and children to slaughter—with premeditation and a happy heart.

History sees in him solely the founder of a state. It's a matter of indifference to me what a weak western European civilization will say about me. I have issued the command—and I'll have anybody who utters but one word of criticism executed by a firing squad—that our war aim does not consist in reaching certain lines, but in the physical destruction of the enemy. Accordingly, I have placed my death-head formation in readiness—for the present only in the East—with orders to them to send to death mercilessly and without compassion, men, women, and children of Polish derivation and language. Only thus shall we gain the living space (Lebensraum) which we need.

Who, after all, speaks to-day of the annihilation of the Armenians?"

Because the world failed to recognize the Armenian Genocide, consequent Genocides were orchestrated by Nazi Germany in 1948, which resulted in deaths of over 6,000,000 Jews, in Cambodia 1.2-1.7 million people were killed by the Khmar Rouge regime in 1970s, and in Rwanda, over 1,000,000 people were killed as recently as 1994.

Today, the Genocide is Darfur is what serves to remind us the great suffering of Genocide. From 2003 until today, over 450,000 people have been killed in Darfur and many more are killed on daily basis.

Unified Young Armenians condemn the Genocide that is taking place in Darfur in the hands of the Sudanese regime headed by Omar al-Bashir, and works hard to bring awareness to this great tragedy.

Ironically, the al-Bashir regime has very close ties to and is supported by Turkish government. In 2009, even after the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court to arrest Omar al-Bashir, contrary to all international and moral norms, Turkey refused to arrest him.

Promote Civic Participation, Volunteerism, and Community Service

"Serving our country is not just something that we should expect our members of our armed forces to do. That's something that we should expect all of us as citizens to do." -President Barrack Obama

Even before the call for national service by the President, Unified Young Armenians has been a catalyst for volunteerism. Our members have completed tens of thousands of hours of community service in their communities through the programs of UYA. From voter registration to adopting street blocks within our communities, and from serving food to homeless through the Salvation Army to raising awareness for the environment, our members have been a force for change.

Adhering to the call for national service by President Obama, we continue serving our communities and via the service provide the new generation the leadership skills necessary to make America a better place to live for all of us.

A George Ohan DOCUMENTARY FILM

DIRECTED by Xavier Ybarra

-----------------------------------------------------------

The Armenian Documentary is about raising the issue of preserving culture. The question, are the latter generations losing culture as newer generations are born? Are Armenian parents teaching their children the culture in order to continue the traditions of the culture? Do the newer generations feel that the Armenian traditions are too old? What is the issue this documentary surrounds? By learning of the events that took place in Armenia in 301 A.D. we can ask the question of how deep the church is embedded into the Armenian Culture. Does it belong at the root of the Armenian culture? Or is it only for those who actually came from Armenia and are descendants of the families that were present at that time?

This documentary will take you through the journey of discovery of the Armenian culture. Determined to uncover the truth, Producer George Ohan, has visited all Armenian churches belonging to the Western Diocese searching for an answer. Is the Armenian Church apart of the Armenian culture? Or is it a byword destined to be abandoned to the past by the newer generations? This documentary dares to raise the question... What does Armenian culture really stand for? How big of a part does the Armenian culture play in your household?

How to make progress in your professional life... Leadership & Success rules.

This is a simple list of things that I know can make your professional life move forward in a positive manner… from experience:

1.       Be on time.  15-20 minutes early is the standard.  Always plan ahead for traffic and travel.

2.       Never “No-show” an appointment.  If you MUST no-show, then call ASAP to reschedule.

3.       When someone gives you a business card, you have 72 hours to follow-up.  Send them a simple email with your information and how you intend to grow that relationship.

4.        Maintain a pleasing personality.  People do not want to work with negative people.

5.       Have a value proposition.  What is the reason someone should hire “YOU?”

6.       Dress neat and be neatly groomed.  Clients want to see professionalism.

7.       Have a PLAN.  Actually write out a plan of what you would like to accomplish, discuss, or research.  You MUST write it out (or type it) for it to be real.

8.       Have a continuous “to-do” list in front of you.  If a particular task does not get accomplished today, then move it to the next day.

9.       Must maintain LASER, INTENSE, FOCUS.  No matter what you do…. LASER, INTENSE, FOCUS.

10.   If you notice that you talk about doing more things than actually doing those things…. STOP IT!  You’re not fooling anyone except yourself.  Get to work!

11.   Be concerned with helping people with their situation before being concerned with why nobody ever wants to help you.  What have you done for someone lately?

12.   Be aware of your physical activity.  Exercise relives a lot of stress and helps you think more clearly.

I hope this helps!

Very Respectfully,

George Ohan

Producer George Ohan leads the way with veterans in Hollywood.

I would like to take a few minutes to tell you a remarkable story of dedication and commitment and how producer George Ohan leads the way with Veterans in Hollywood. After 8 years of Active Duty service in the United States Army he returned home and went to film school so he could share his perspective and his voice on the things he’d seen in his Life and his global travels. He now finds himself in the midst of the Hollywood roller coaster ride. Not only is he a Veteran, he is the CEO of a production company, an accomplished producer, a graduate of the LA Film School and is The Alumni President of Veterans at the same.  He has made several short films, is currently working on an HBO series and has an endless sea of ideas for what I’m sure will be a long list of  projects to come in the future.

His movie “The Long Journey Home” (Director- John H. Wan) focuses on what it’s like to return back to America after service and the challenges that our troops face. This is a movie written by a civilian for the friends and families of Veterans to help spread the word about how difficult it can be for our soldiers to re-enter society after being away for so long.  Different family issues, separation, and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) are just a few of the things that George sees on a daily basis in his work. He strives to really heighten the level of awareness on these issues and does more than his fair share to make a difference in the lives of those who risk their lives for our Freedom.

I expect to see many more great things from George Ohan in the future. He is also an expert in Sales and Marketing, Communication, Training and Team Development. I mean this guy is a Leader. He’s focused, committed, has the desire to make a difference and the persistence to Never Quit. Look for him on the big screen. And Make It A Great Day!
